Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire for Up to 6 People
Our Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire provides compact, self-contained welfare facilities for small construction teams of up to 6 people. It is ideal for building sites, groundworks, refurbishment projects, landscaping works, utilities and temporary workplaces where permanent welfare facilities are not available.
The unit includes seating, a worktop area, hard-wired microwave and kettle, warm-water washing facilities and a recirculating chemical toilet. A 360W solar panel, battery system and 6kVA diesel generator work together to reduce generator runtime, fuel use and site noise where conditions allow.
Available from £225 per week, this eco solar welfare unit is a practical upgrade from a standard 12ft welfare unit. Customers can order online 24/7 and earn Site Loyal Points on qualifying hires.
Low-Fuel Solar Welfare for Temporary Sites
The Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire gives small teams the facilities they need while reducing reliance on generator power. The solar panel charges the onboard battery during daylight hours, and the generator provides backup power when required.
This makes the unit suitable for:
- Small construction sites
- Residential developments
- Groundworks
- Refurbishment projects
- Landscaping works
- Utilities and roadworks
- Remote worksites
- Noise-sensitive locations
- Long-term temporary projects
Solar performance can vary depending on daylight, weather, unit position and how the facilities are used. For the best performance, position the unit where the solar panel can receive good daylight.

Groundhog GP360 and AJC Solar Welfare Units
Our Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire fleet includes trusted welfare-unit brands such as Groundhog GP360 Fusion and AJC, depending on stock and availability.
We choose each unit for solar-assisted welfare performance, secure anti-vandal design and reliable use on temporary construction sites.
Solar Power, Battery and Generator Backup
The unit uses a 360W solar panel to charge the onboard battery system. This helps power low-energy facilities and reduces the amount of time the generator needs to run.
The 6kVA diesel generator provides backup power when battery charge drops or when site usage increases. Site Equip supplies the unit with fuel at the start of the hire, but the customer must refill the diesel during the hire period if the tank becomes empty.
The unit includes a 58-litre fuel tank and offers approximately 25 hours of fuel tank runtime, depending on site use.
Water, Waste and Recirculating Chemical Toilet
The Solar 12ft Welfare Unit includes a 20-litre fresh-water container and a 20-litre waste-water container for welfare use. It also includes warm-water washing facilities and a forearm wash basin.
Site Equip does not supply drinking water. Customers must provide drinking water separately for their operatives.
The unit also includes a recirculating chemical toilet with a 135-litre toilet tank. This allows the unit to operate on sites without mains drainage.
Weekly Chemical Toilet Servicing Included
Every hire includes one weekly service for the recirculating chemical toilet. Our service team removes effluent, recharges chemicals, replenishes toilet roll, soap and paper towels, and carries out a basic clean of the toilet compartment.
Fresh-water replenishment does not come included as standard. Customers can arrange water visits or additional chemical toilet servicing where required, subject to availability and extra charges.
For high-use sites, we recommend reviewing the servicing frequency at the start of the hire.
Designed to Support Construction Welfare
The Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire helps contractors provide suitable welfare facilities for smaller site teams. It combines rest space, food and drink preparation, warm-water washing, heating and a recirculating chemical toilet in one towable unit.
The right welfare setup depends on your workforce size, site layout, working hours and project type. Larger teams may need a 16ft or 20ft welfare unit, additional portable toilets or extra servicing.
6 Person Welfare Unit Hire: Standard or Solar 12ft Welfare Unit?
The standard 12ft Welfare Unit Hire and Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire both suit small construction teams, but they serve different priorities.
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| 12ft Welfare Unit Hire | Small teams needing a lower weekly hire cost with generator-powered welfare facilities |
| Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire | Small teams looking to reduce generator runtime, fuel use and site noise |
Choose the standard 12ft unit when the lower weekly hire price is the main priority.
Choose the Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire when your site has fuel-reduction, noise or sustainability targets.

Have had a spate of poor service delivery, and most recently a toilet was delivered and not serviced until it had been on site for a month. Requested a reduction in the hire costs as toilet was unusable. After many broken promises of returned calls and emails and much chasing on my part we were given a 1.5 week credit for which we are grateful. However I was alarmed reading the transport managers response "As set out in our Terms and Conditions, the Weekly Toilet Service is provided on a reasonable endeavours basis and is a free, no-obligation service. The Terms also state that the Weekly Toilet Service is not of the essence of the Contract, and that no reduction in hire charges is normally offered should a weekly service be missed." Seriously....Site Equip missed 3 consecutive weeks...would you want to use the toilet?

It’s been an absolute nightmare. My builders ordered a portaloo since I didn’t have a toilet. They came to clean it ONCE over 6 weeks (they promise weekly cleaning) and we asked to remove because it’s smelly and dirty and there are flies circling around it and they can’t give us a date. I’ve also reported to my local council environmental health and I’ll have to pursue with them. With this heat this is totally unacceptable !

The stuff nightmares are made of - they only came to clean the portaloo once over 6 weeks. We asked to collect because flies are around but it’s impossible to speak to someone in their “transport team”. Reported to the council environmental health too, it’s smelly and there are flies and I’m horrified. Please don’t use them !

A totally frustrating experience for us after Site Equip bought out Jimmy Riddles (who were great.) You never know if they are going to turn up - having a toilet that has no loo roll and stinks for a bunch of female employees is no joke. It has come to the point where I am having to ring up weekly to see if they will be coming. This week on Thursday (18th June 2026) customer services said the driver had two more stops before us and felt sure they would make it before 5pm when they finished, but if they didn't make it would schedule them in for Friday. On Friday morning I rang again as they hadn't made it - spoke to a different customer service representative who said it hadn't been scheduled for Friday and they would make sure it was serviced but it would be later in the day. Nobody showed up. This leaves me with yet another phone call on Monday morning, so time consuming when you are running your own business, with the hope of having it serviced on Tuesday 23rd June - which is twelve days since it was last serviced on 11th June. Why do customer services lie- its so bad for business. Incidentally I have never left a bad review on Trustpilot for anything - life is generally too short, but it is really getting my staff down now.
