Compact Welfare Facilities for Small Construction Sites
The 12ft welfare unit is ideal when space is limited but your site still needs suitable worker facilities. Its compact footprint makes it easier to position within smaller compounds, driveways, yards and active construction areas.
This unit is commonly hired for:
- Small housebuilding projects
- Groundworks
- Refurbishment works
- Landscaping sites
- Utility works
- Roadworks
- Remote and temporary workplaces
- Short and long-term construction projects
The towable design allows the unit to be delivered and deployed efficiently. Once positioned, it provides a practical welfare area for rest breaks, food preparation, handwashing, drying workwear and chemical toilet use.

Power, Water and Recirculating Chemical Toilet
This welfare unit is powered by a silent 6kVA diesel generator. The generator supports the unit’s main facilities, including the microwave, kettle, sockets, lighting and water heater.
The customer is responsible for supplying and refilling diesel during the hire. The generator has a 58-litre fuel tank and a weekly running limit of 50 hours.
The unit also includes a 25-litre fresh-water tank. Drinking water is not supplied by Site Equip, so customers must provide drinking water separately for their workforce.
The recirculating chemical toilet includes a 50-gallon waste tank, helping the unit operate without mains drainage. This makes it suitable for temporary sites where fixed toilets are not available.
Weekly Chemical Toilet Servicing Included
Every hire includes weekly servicing of the recirculating chemical toilet. This service includes effluent removal, chemical recharge, toilet-roll replenishment and cleaning of the toilet compartment.
Our service team also replenishes soap and paper towels during the service visit.
We do not include fresh-water replenishment as standard. Customers can arrange additional chemical toilet servicing or water visits where required, subject to availability and extra charges.
This keeps the toilet facility usable throughout the hire period while giving customers flexibility for busier sites.
Designed to Support Construction Welfare
The 12ft welfare unit helps contractors provide essential site welfare for small teams. It combines rest space, food-preparation facilities, handwashing, drying hooks and a chemical toilet within one mobile unit.
Construction sites must provide suitable welfare facilities for workers, including toilets, washing facilities, rest areas and facilities for changing or drying clothing where needed. These unit is designed to support those requirements for smaller teams.
The correct welfare setup will depend on your workforce size, site conditions, working hours and project type. Larger teams may need a 16ft or 20ft welfare unit, additional toilets or separate site accommodation.
5 Person Welfare Unit Hire: Standard or Solar 12ft Welfare Unit?
The standard 12ft Welfare Unit Hire and Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire both support teams of up to 5 operatives, but they use different power systems.
| Option | Best for |
| 12ft Welfare Unit Hire | Small teams needing a lower weekly hire cost with generator-powered welfare facilities |
| Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire | Small teams wanting to reduce generator runtime, fuel use and operational noise |
Choose the standard 12ft unit when cost and simple generator-powered operation are the main priorities. Choose the Solar 12ft Welfare Unit Hire when your site has fuel-reduction, noise or sustainability targets.

Have had a spate of poor service delivery, and most recently a toilet was delivered and not serviced until it had been on site for a month. Requested a reduction in the hire costs as toilet was unusable. After many broken promises of returned calls and emails and much chasing on my part we were given a 1.5 week credit for which we are grateful. However I was alarmed reading the transport managers response "As set out in our Terms and Conditions, the Weekly Toilet Service is provided on a reasonable endeavours basis and is a free, no-obligation service. The Terms also state that the Weekly Toilet Service is not of the essence of the Contract, and that no reduction in hire charges is normally offered should a weekly service be missed." Seriously....Site Equip missed 3 consecutive weeks...would you want to use the toilet?

It’s been an absolute nightmare. My builders ordered a portaloo since I didn’t have a toilet. They came to clean it ONCE over 6 weeks (they promise weekly cleaning) and we asked to remove because it’s smelly and dirty and there are flies circling around it and they can’t give us a date. I’ve also reported to my local council environmental health and I’ll have to pursue with them. With this heat this is totally unacceptable !

The stuff nightmares are made of - they only came to clean the portaloo once over 6 weeks. We asked to collect because flies are around but it’s impossible to speak to someone in their “transport team”. Reported to the council environmental health too, it’s smelly and there are flies and I’m horrified. Please don’t use them !

A totally frustrating experience for us after Site Equip bought out Jimmy Riddles (who were great.) You never know if they are going to turn up - having a toilet that has no loo roll and stinks for a bunch of female employees is no joke. It has come to the point where I am having to ring up weekly to see if they will be coming. This week on Thursday (18th June 2026) customer services said the driver had two more stops before us and felt sure they would make it before 5pm when they finished, but if they didn't make it would schedule them in for Friday. On Friday morning I rang again as they hadn't made it - spoke to a different customer service representative who said it hadn't been scheduled for Friday and they would make sure it was serviced but it would be later in the day. Nobody showed up. This leaves me with yet another phone call on Monday morning, so time consuming when you are running your own business, with the hope of having it serviced on Tuesday 23rd June - which is twelve days since it was last serviced on 11th June. Why do customer services lie- its so bad for business. Incidentally I have never left a bad review on Trustpilot for anything - life is generally too short, but it is really getting my staff down now.
